Quote
The cause of America is in great measure the cause of all mankind.
Notes
🔥 Thomas Paine was born in Norfolk, England in 1737.
🔥 He tried a few different jobs, but none worked out. So in 1774, two years before the American Revolution, he moved to America.
🔥 Two of his works had a massive impact on that revolution: Common Sense and American Crisis.
🔥 After the American Revolution, he went back to Europe and got caught up in the French Revolution there with more of his writing.
🔥 Later he moved back to America, but his avowed atheism and recent criticisms against Christianity turned many people against him. He died in obscurity in 1809.
🔥 I'm reading the Oxford World's Classics version edited by Mark Philp and published in 1995.
